Policies, Positions, Ideas, and Suggestions for the Implementing of States' LibertySome policies such as Health Care are specific to the State of California. Citizens of other states may submit alternate policies, and these will be posted on the web site. DonationsThe Liberty Party welcomes but will not actively solicit donations, and advocates that government give organizational aid and support to, but not fund, reputable charities, churches and not-for-profit foundations.. LawThe Liberty Party believes best government is that which governs least, and that all power emanates from the people and the States representing them.. (Other Liberty Party positions must be viewed in this context). States' RightsThe Liberty Party will seek to restore the State legislatures to their founding prominence by repeal of the 17th Amendment. Fourteenth AmendmentThe Liberty Party believes a primary role of the Federal government is an insurer of States' rights and citizen's liberties, and arbitrator for settling differences between the States and citizen's . Federal TaxesFederal taxes must be controlled and levied by a Congress with one house controlled by the people and the other by the states. The Liberty Party opposes overburdening taxes on citizens and business, and encourages a focus on non-profit, church, and volunteer solutions to cure the nation's social deficiencies. MoralityThe Liberty Party adheres unwaveringly to responsible attitudes and practices founded on historical religious values. PornographyThe internet brings un-requested pornography into the lives of anyone accessing a computer. The exploiting of the birth process for profit represents violence directed at primarily women, and is damaging to the unborn and ultimately newborn children, some of whom will enter the world void of two loving parents. These measurable damages warrant a careful regulating and prohibition of pornography for benefit of the general welfare. Term LimitsThe Liberty Party rejects term limits in Congress and the legislatures, and will eliminate the problem of entrenched politicians with a policy of choosing senior congresspersons by in-house vote, not length of service, so that younger members of Congress may routinely take on higher responsibility over older seasoned politicians that are out of favor with their fellow members. The Liberty Party advocates the formation of a House of Representatives composed of working individuals serving for no more than 1-2 terms and continuing to work part-time in their regular jobs. Campaign FinanceLaws Liberty Candidates will avoid puffery and misleading advertising, and be people of truth, fairness and high moral ethics. The interest of Liberty Party candidates will be the conveying of ideas and building trust with the electorate. The Liberty Party will make a long term commitment with the populace. The Liberty Party will support expansive ways of promoting fairness between candidates and parties with differing financial means such as a Fair Share proposal.
Moral IssuesAbortionThe Liberty Party affirms a woman's right to choose when and whether to carry a child into the world but assumes her right to decline ends at conception and is then a privilege (subject to the will of the people).. Birth ControlThe Liberty Party opposes artificial and natural birth control, believing it unnecessary and contrary to religion, sound mental health and good common sense. Adoption and Unwanted ChildrenThe Liberty Party believes a child is best raised by the natural parents. A need for adoption and public fostering of parentless children indicates that something has already gone wrong. These children are best placed into homes most closely representing a natural upbringing.
Crime and PunishmentThe Death PenaltyThe Liberty Party opposes capital punishment but recognizes protection of the innocent as absolute. Prison ReformNo mother should fear for a son who has gone to jailThe Liberty Party will take steps to eliminate internal prisoner abuse, and will stress education and reform, not punishment so that prisoners, when released, will have the best opportunity to be productive members of the society. CrimeLiberty Party policy will be the incarcerating of violent people for as long as they present a danger to the victims or potential victims This generally will require more stringent sentencing for violent crimes, and careful attention by parole boards to the fears and feelings of victims. The "revolving door" of repeat offenders is a travesty of justice. The incarcerated will be afforded the best possible opportunity to live productive lives inside of prison, by the improving of educational facilities and work centers. When a prisoner's term ends and is he freed, he should leave with a job and residence secured. The Liberty Party will close the revolving door of crime and punishment, by rehabilitation or incarceration. FBI, CIA and DEA
The States' Liberty Party will take steps to ensure that none of the agencies are used as a political tool or weapon, and that general policies and procedures are open to public scrutiny. The States' Liberty Party salutes the dedicated men and women in law enforcement and civilian uniform and will work to bring a renewed respect for the various agencies.
Social ServicesBasic RightsThe Liberty Party believes residents have a basic "right to life" to include food, shelter, health care and movement, ensured by the people and funded and maintained by private organizations. Health CareThe Liberty Party will guarantee reasonable health care for inhabitants and preventative health care for residents by way of the Public Hospital System (California) administered at county level. A goal of the Liberty Party is an increased awareness of existing services and more private funding and volunteer help, for a county medical center competitive with private health care organizations, but without added government funding. Day CareThe Liberty Party will endorse and further public awareness of the long established California public school day care program for those unable to afford private care..
